Eungella Platypus Tour

Departing from Airlie

Eco-Certified Day Trip into the Land of the Clouds

Come aboard for a day like no other as we leave Airlie Beach at 11.00 AM and head south into the lush Clarke Ranges. Tucked within these misty rainforest-clad mountains lies the spectacular Eungella National Park, one of Queensland’s most iconic natural treasures.

Spanning over 51,700 hectares, Eungella is Australia’s longest stretch of subtropical rainforest and has remained ecologically unique due to its thousands of years of isolation. The name Eungella means “Land of the Clouds” in the local Aboriginal language — and when you arrive, you'll understand why.

This ancient landscape is also one of the very few places in Australia where you can spot the elusive platypus in the wild. With a bit of luck (and a little patience), you’ll see one of these shy, fascinating creatures in its natural habitat — a moment that’s often the highlight of the day.

A Classic Aussie Lunch in the Clouds

After exploring the rainforest and spotting wildlife, we’ll enjoy a good old-fashioned sausage sizzle, complete with fresh bread, onions, and sauce — just like your local Bunnings snag, but with a view! Enjoy lunch surrounded by the sounds of the forest and the fresh mountain air.
